# Design and parts checks

> Check a board while designing. No quote or order.

## design\_check

Upload with `upload`, then call with the `upload_id`.

| Check | Result |
| - | - |
| JLCPCB limits | Outline, drills, rings, trace/space, mask, silkscreen |
| Partner fabs | `can_build`, `cannot_build` or `not_fully_checked` for JLCPCB, PCBWay, Bay Area Circuits, Summit |
| KiCad DRC | Unrouted nets and shorts as `must_fix`; overlapping courtyards |
| Parts (with `boards`) | Same as `parts_check`, plus datasheet and footprint checks in `part_checks` later |

Findings come worst first: `must_fix`, `warning`, `note`. Pass `copper_oz` and `thickness_mm` if not 1 oz / 1.6 mm.

  Fab verdicts are estimates from published limits. Summit's lead times are unreliable; plan with margin.

## parts\_check

A part list and a build quantity. No files.

Or pass `bom_csv`. JLCPCB answers in \~2 s; distributors follow.

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `ok` | In stock and priced |
| `check` | Package or identity needs a look |
| `problem` | Can't be bought; may include `similar_part` |
| `checking` | Retry after `retry_after_s` |

Results are cached (10 min per list, 12 h per part), so re-check freely.
